My patterns are professionally tech edited prior to testing, so test knitters don't generally encounter many problems! (And if they do, they’ll probably be minor.) The purpose of the test knit is to catch any remaining errors and to generate activity and excitement for the upcoming pattern release.
I am not able to offer payment or yarn support at this time, but testers who complete all requirements will be gifted a free copy of the finalized pattern upon its release for personal use and will earn my undying love and devotion. I will also share the shit out of your projects on my own platforms so you get a boost too! You scratch mine, I'll scratch yours. ♥
Please carefully read the guidelines and requirements below. If you feel you will be able to complete all test knit requirements accurately and on time, please fill out the accompanying Test Knit Questionnaire at the bottom of this page.
Test Knit Guidelines
Test knits are completed via Discord. You will need a valid email address to create a free account.
I ask my testers to share their projects on Instagram as they work through the test, so you must have an active (public) Instagram profile in order to participate. Private accounts will not be considered.
Please check and match gauge before getting started.
Knit garment completely by deadline.
Please knit the test pattern exactly as written, making no changes or modifications even if you think your idea is better. Knitting the pattern exactly helps me ensure pattern accuracy. If you run into a problem or something seems confusing or you'd like to suggest a change, please include it in your feedback.
Stop knitting and contact me to ask questions if anything is weird or confusing.
If you think you will not be able to complete the test knit (or any of the requirements) by the deadline for any reason, no worries, but please let me know as soon as possible so I have time to find another tester.
1. Check in on Discord at least weekly to:
(a) Share your progress (b) Submit feedback regarding:
Parts that are confusing or worded weirdly
Anywhere you needed help or had to look something up or watch a video tutorial
Incorrect stitch counts, measurements, other numbers
Typos, punctuation/spelling errors
Suggested modifications and improvements
(c) Hang out and chat!
2. Share multiple progress and completed project photos on your (public) Instagram feed using the project hashtag and tag me so I can see & share it!
3. Create a Ravelry project page, with comments and photos, for your finished garment by the deadline, using the specified tester code in your project’s “pattern name” field. (Optional if the new version of Ravelry kills your eyeballs or if you're boycotting because they suck.)
I'll check in to the Discord channel regularly throughout the test knit, but if testers need to contact me for any reason, you can send me a private message on Discord, DM me on Instagram @ChristineParkerCo, or email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
