My patterns are professionally tech edited prior to testing, so test knitters don't generally encounter many problems! (And if they do, they’ll probably be minor.) The purpose of the test knit is to catch any remaining errors and to generate activity and excitement for the upcoming pattern release.
I am not able to offer payment or yarn support at this time, but testers who complete all requirements will be gifted a free copy of the finalized pattern upon its release for personal use and will earn my undying love and devotion. I will also share the shit out of your projects on my own platforms so you get a boost too! You scratch mine, I'll scratch yours. ♥
Please carefully read the guidelines and requirements below. If you feel you will be able to complete all test knit requirements accurately and on time, please fill out the accompanying Test Knit Questionnaire at the bottom of this page.
test knit guidelines
Please check and match gauge before getting started.
Knit garment completely by deadline.
Please knit the test pattern exactly as written, making no changes or modifications even if you think your idea is better. Knitting the pattern exactly helps me ensure pattern accuracy. If you run into a problem or something seems confusing or you'd like to suggest a change, please include it in your feedback.
Stop knitting and contact me to ask questions if anything is weird or confusing.
If you think you will not be able to complete the test knit (or any of the requirements) by the deadline for any reason, no worries, but please email me as soon as possible so I have time to find another tester.

will knit the pattern exactly as written
will finish their project by the deadline
will make a ton of notes about their project
aren't afraid to provide detailed feedback
will regularly check in and share their progress
are active on Instagram and Ravelry
are genuinely stoked to knit & wear this pattern
will help me promote the pattern before, during, and after its release
Testing is currently closed BUT I will need testers soon for a super fun reverse stockinette hat and cowl set, and a big squishy garter stitch wrap! Make sure you're subscribed to my newsletter so you don't miss the call!
NOTE This pattern has been professionally tech edited for accuracy and clarity. US knitting terminology is used throughout.
SUGGESTED YARN Two 100g skeins of fingering/sock yarn in two different colors. I used:
• 1 skein of Hedgehog Fibres Sock in Waterlily (blue) for the stockinette body, and • 1 skein of MadelineTosh Tosh Merino Light in Neon Red (red) for the garter border
Raid your stash and mix and match solids, speckles, variegated, self-striping, semi-solids, tonals, and more. The simple eyelet stitch looks cool in all types of yarns!
SUGGESTED NEEDLES US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 6 (4 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge
NOTIONS one set of circular needles at least 32 in. (81.28 cm) long in size needed to obtain gauge, 4 ring stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors
GAUGE 18 st and 37 rows = 4 in (10.16 cm) square in stockinette stitch knit flat, blocked aggressively. Gauge is not important, however different yarn/needles/gauge will affect yarn required and finished measurements.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Approx. 30 in. (76.2 cm) deep, 86 in. (218.44 cm) wingspan
SKILLS REQUIRED flat knitting large stitch counts on circular needles, knowledge of basic knitting stitches including simple increases, garter tab cast on (video tutorial included), Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off (video tutorial included), ability to work from a chart is recommended but not required as full written instructions are provided
I love seeing your finished projects! Please share on social media using hashtag #BombPopShawl and tag me @ChristineParkerCo so I can see & share it!
